Golden retriever
If your Golden Retriever is in the habit of jumping up to you, you’ll probably be wondering why and what you can do about it. This post shows some reasons why the Golden Retriever starts jumping, and some ways to stop it.So why does my Golden Retriever jump on me? Possible causes are excitement, want to pay attention, not adequately trained, or reward each other for action. There are many possible causes, but there are a few things you can consider to understand the exact reason. There are also many things you can do to stop jumping on.

Why golden retrievers might jump on you

Each of the different reasons it does probably comes with some clues. Below are a number of reasons why your Golden Retriever might be doing it and why they are more likely to be the cause.

Excitement

Maybe the reason it does is because it’s excited and trying to show that excitement. This would be more likely if you do it in such situations when you get home. Because they want to greet you in the face, and the mother feeds them from the face as puppies, they do it because they jump up. This type of jump can be stopped in training using the methods in the sections below. One way to try is to teach them to stay and sit down and reward it in doing so. You can see how it’s done in the video in the next section. You can also be careful and avoid rewarding, as described below.

Note

The reason why it does it may be because it is trying to attract attention from you. This is more likely if you do more when you don’t pay too much attention, and if you tend to pay more attention when you do it. To prevent this, train it, play with it, and help pay attention throughout the day by exercising it. But by leaving the room if you want, it will help you not to pay attention when you jump on. And when it settles down, you can pay attention to learn that it jumps will not attract attention from you.

Lack of training

If you don’t give the Golden Retriever a lot of training, you don’t know how to behave and behave like you do. Training is important because the feeling that your behavior desires is unlikely to be the behavior you want.

Fear

If you don’t normally jump, something might be wrong. When things are wrong, golden retrievers often do bad things, so you need to consider what is wrong that is causing the jump. Perhaps it’s because you’re feeling the pain, maybe there’s someone at the door or an emergency.

reward one’s actions

You may also encourage you to jump on by giving you what you want when you do it. Giving special attention, toys, sweets, etc. during the jump makes you more likely to do more to get paid. Instead, it rewards you when it’s done, and helps you get back to rewarding when you jump, quit rewarding, and start behaving again.

How to stop jumping golden retriever

Below are some options you have when you quit it.

Ignored

One option would stop paying attention when it does it, because it might be doing it to get attention and other rewards from you. In doing so, you should be able to teach you that jumping on is not going to get what it wants. When the jump stops, it’s going back to the reward until you start jumping again, so stop paying attention again.

Redirect

Another option is to be aware of when you are likely to start jumping and redirect that focus to other things. In doing so, you should be able to get it from the habit of jumping up to you.

don’t train it

Another option is to train to stop it using positive strengthening training. Positive strengthening training focuses on enhancing the actions you want to see by rewarding them and avoiding rewarding behaviors you don’t want to see. To use positive strengthening training to stop jumping, try to: get it to sit down to get some candy that your Golden Retriever likes. If you don’t teach how to sit on a golden retriever, do this by inviting a treat over your head until you sit naturally, and wait half a minute to give them a treat. The idea is to reward it for sitting down and paying attention to you, because you want to reward it before you have the opportunity to fail. Do the same as above, but you’ll have more time to stay each time. When your Golden Retriever can stay for more than 15 seconds, start introducing distractions such as toy squeals. Start with a small distraction just to show the toy, and make it difficult, such as rolling it in front of it. You can watch the video below to see how it is done.

give a lot of exercise

Golden Retrievers are a breed intended to get more exercise every day to be fully stimulated. Lack of exercise may cause the Golden Retriever to be overly energetic. In general, it is recommended to exercise for at least an hour every day. If your stuff isn’t getting that much, it will help you to make sure you do.

Things to consider

They patient

It is important to be patient when training the Golden Retriever. It’s unlikely that you’ll make a lot of progress in a single workout. But if you stick to it, you can get much better results in a few weeks or months.

When i started jumping

If you suddenly start jumping up, it may have happened to the event that caused it to start, so it can help you think about what else happened when you started it. If it suddenly starts it, it’s likely to reduce attention, like learning to get rewarded when doing it, or due to a sudden change in its daily routine.

when it jumps more

It also helps to consider whether there is a certain time when it jumps up more. If so, timing may be relevant. For example, if you usually tend to jump at the same time as you walk, you might be trying to remind them to walk.
